Cell phones: no threat to health?

FDA Response to NRPB Report on Mobile Phones and Health - January 13, 2005
FDA agrees with the NRPB on its conclusions that there is "no hard evidence of adverse health effects on the general public " from exposure to radiofrequency energy while using wireless communication devices.

Next month when my Sprint contract is over I will switch to Verizon and this phone.

"Major radio companies are abandoning rock music so quickly lately that sometimes their own employees don't know it."

One Headlight

"Hey, come on try a little
Nothing is forever
There's got to be something better than
In the middle
But me & Cinderella
We put it all together
We can drive it home
With one headlight"

100 Greatest guitar solo

Went through the 100 greatest guitar solo list (a reader's poll by Guitar World Magazine). Quite satisfactory except for seeing Santana's Europa only at No. 49. Personally I think Santana has some great stuff and should be in top 20 if not 10. Like the about.com article said, the results "reflect the magazine's demographic".

The top10 are:
  1. Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin
  2. Eruption - Van Halen
  3. Freebird - Lynyrd Skynyrd
  4. Comfortably Numb - Pink Floyd
  5. All along the Watchtower - Jimi Hendrix
  6. November Rain - Guns and Roses
  7. One - Metallica
  8. Hotel California (Live) - Eagles
  9. Crazy Train - Ozzy Osbourne
  10. Crossroads - Eric Clapton

Add a favicon for blog

Just thought it would be cool to have a favicon for my young blog. So I made a simple icon file and uploaded to my comcast server. Next I went into the blog template, inserted the following line in the header:

<
link rel="SHORTCUT ICON" href="
http://tyx.home.comcast.net/boat.ico">

The favicon now appears in the address bar and next to the bookmark.

Lick, slam, suck

So tyang mentioned he had tequila at home but I wasn't gonna do a week-long driving for that. Instead together with couple guys at work we headed to a local bar for Friday lunch and drink. One after another Cuervo Gold, the topic was natually changed from work to señorita. Anyway, got out before I needed a dedicated driver. Too bad the songs I bought in the jukebox were still way down on the waiting list.

XM Online finally works in the office

Finally got XM Radio Online to work in the office. Apparently the player is quite picky about the version of Windows Media Player (which, by itself, is a buggy piece, too). Anyway, Squizz filled up the air most of the time and the rest was shared by Bone Yard and Liquid Metal.

I'll check my PO box again tomorrow and hopefully the Wallflowers CD I ordered will be sitting there.

Stereomud - Perfect Self

(image linked from mtv.com)
Stereomud, the name didn't ring a bell when I showed the CD (Perfect Self) to my rock-savvy colleagues today. Having fans only in maybe a handful cities, its music has been rarely played on radio stations. Perfect Self was its debut album in 2001. At the time Dallas 97.1 Eagle played "Pain" from the album and the music quickly caught my attention. The band put out another album in 2003 and then vanished. Until recently "Pain" flashed back in my brain so I got out and acquired the CD. The album was nicely produced, with overall heavy and raw music.

I recommend my rock-fan friends to give it a try. I'm sure my colleagues all agreed after 40 minutes exposure to the album.
