Installed. It took two guys three hours to set the boxes on the wall, drill couple holes through my house, and left with a 15 mb/s connection.

The installation looks complicated. Why do you need a backup battery? What happens if you lose all the power including the backup?
I'll be living in the dark-age :)
Maybe the battery backup is important for the laser? or maybe because eventually Verizon is going transmit telephone signals through fiber optic cable, a battery backup will provide added reliability. I don't know.
I did more test of network speed at my office. Both download and upload is around 5000kbp/s. Clearly, FIOS is better in terms of downloading than our T1 network.
